This policy explains how Chaotic Meh handles information when you browse the site, use its features, or contact us.
What we collect
- Information you provide, such as your name or alias, email address, messages, submitted jokes, and replies.
- Information about visits and interactions, such as pages viewed, referring pages, votes, sharing-button clicks, signup activity, and dates and times.
- Technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device details, and identifiers used to recognize repeat activity. Some features use identifiers derived from an IP address rather than storing the address itself; this does not make all information anonymous.
How we use it
We use this information to run and improve the site, understand what people read, remember preferences, handle submissions, respond to messages, and reduce spam and abuse. Submissions and signups may generate administrator email notifications. Approved replies and their names or aliases appear publicly.
Email signups currently record your interest in receiving updates. You can ask us to remove your signup through our contact page.
Cookies and your choices
We use cookies and similar browser storage for analytics, preferences, voting, and other site features. You can block or delete cookies and clear browser storage. Doing so may reset preferences or affect some features, and does not stop all server-side logging.

Keeping information and requesting changes
Information may remain in site records, administrator email, provider systems, and backups. Retention varies by purpose and system; there is no single deletion period for everything.
Use our contact page to ask about your information or request a correction, deletion, or removal of an email signup. We may need to verify your request. Applicable rights and exceptions vary, and deletion may not immediately remove every backup or provider-held copy.
We may update this policy when our practices change.
